Residents and environmental campaigners in Stockport have raised serious questions about how local authorities handle reports of wildlife crime at Padden Brook. According to sources, emails detailing ongoing illegal activity are being deleted by Stockport Council’s Information Services before being read.

This practice has sparked concern about the council’s ability to assess the validity of complaints. Environmental advocates argue that if reports are deleted without consideration, it becomes impossible to determine whether the issues raised are genuine or vexatious.

A local campaigner said, “Wildlife crime, including pollution and habitat destruction, is not trivial. If reports are being deleted unread, the council cannot claim to responsibly investigate complaints or protect our local environment.”

Stockport Council has not publicly clarified its email retention policy in these cases, leaving residents frustrated and wary that serious incidents may be going unaddressed.

The Romiley Gazette will continue to follow developments and report on any changes to the council’s handling of environmental complaints. Citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant and document incidents to ensure local wildlife is protected.
