The Gazette believes residents have the right to be heard, and the council must treat community concerns with respect.

For months, readers of the Romiley Gazette have raised real and pressing concerns about Padden Brook. From flooding risks subsidence, tipping and the protection of this Local Wildlife Site — it’s part of our local environment and our community’s safety.

Stockport Council’s Information Governance team has indicated that some correspondence about Padden Brook is “repetitive” and may not warrant further replies. But to residents, these questions are not vexatious — they are genuine attempts to get answers.

The Gazette believes that public servants are accountable to the community. Every voice raised about Padden Brook should be listened to with respect. After all, it is our council, our community, and our money that pays for these services.

We will continue to report on Padden Brook until residents get the answers they deserve.
