An Essex mother has spoken out after raising serious concerns about the accuracy of her daughter’s medical records, saying she believes crucial test results were overlooked or misrepresented by a clinician.

The mother, whose daughter – referred to here as “the young patient” to protect her privacy – has faced ongoing health challenges, contacted multiple hospitals and clinicians after noticing discrepancies in a letter summarising her daughter’s immune system tests.

“I was alarmed to see that some of her lab results, which show evidence of immune dysregulation, were either missing or incorrectly described in the official report,” she said. “These are not minor details – they have a direct impact on her ongoing care and understanding of her condition.”

According to the mother, her daughter’s tests had shown reduced induction of key immune markers, including IL-2, IL-17, and IFN-γ, which are significant in assessing T-cell function. However, she claims these findings were omitted from the letter she received, leaving other clinicians misinformed.

She first noticed the discrepancies when reviewing a recent clinical letter and realised that the previously reported “normal” results conflicted with the findings documented by specialist immunologists. In her communications with the hospitals, she included supporting documentation from lab reports and specialists confirming her daughter’s immune irregularities.

She has formally requested that an amended or addendum letter be issued to ensure her daughter’s records are complete, citing the need for continuity of care and accurate medical information. “It is vital that future clinicians have the full picture,” she explained. “Missing or incorrect information can have serious consequences for her treatment.”

The mother has also highlighted additional health concerns, including elevated IgE levels, certain autoantibodies, and nutritional deficiencies, which she says are relevant to her daughter’s ongoing fatigue and overall health profile. She has asked that the corrections be made promptly, in line with official information rights guidelines.
