Contemporary records show that a practice trading as Nancy Bone (Solicitors) operated during the 1990s from two North East addresses: Gilesgate House, 94 Gilesgate, Durham (DH1 1JA) and 78 Queensway, Billingham (TS23 2NR).

According to filings held at Companies House, a Nancy Bone (born April 1954) held company directorships linked with those addresses, using a Durham correspondence address at 49 South Street. A bankruptcy order was later recorded in The London Gazette in 1997, naming Nancy Bone and citing the Durham and Billingham addresses as her trading premises. Bankruptcy proceedings of that kind were not uncommon among small professional practices during a period of economic strain in the late 1990s.

While a number of archived websites and personal pages discuss difficulties that clients reportedly experienced, these materials are not official sources and cannot be independently verified. Searches of the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s current online register do not show an active entry for “Nancy Bone Solicitors”, and there is no public disciplinary record presently displayed under that name. The SRA remains the only authoritative source for regulatory findings concerning solicitors.

An obituary notice published by the Radio Society of Great Britain in 2022 recorded the death of Nancy Bone (G7UUR) on 5 May 2022, noting that she had “trained as a solicitor” and later contributed to local amateur-radio groups.

No firm now trades under the name “Nancy Bone Solicitors”, and the Gilesgate and Queensway offices have since been occupied by unrelated businesses. Anyone with historic professional queries about client files or matters from that period should contact the Solicitors Regulation Authority or the Law Society’s Archives team, who may be able to advise whether any residual records remain accessible.
