For 22 months, residents have been raising concerns about activity at Padden Brook, a site that has been described as protected wildlife habitat, protected visual amenity land and protected woodland.
People wrote to councillors, attended meetings, submitted objections and asked for action. Yet many residents feel their concerns were ignored.
Now there are serious questions being asked about whether contaminated land was disturbed by bulldozing, strimming and excavation works, and whether nearby households may have been affected as a result.
Residents deserve clear answers:
• When were concerns first reported?
• What action was taken by councillors and council officers?
• Were contamination risks properly assessed before works took place?
• What monitoring has been carried out?
• What support will be offered to affected residents?
This is not about politics. It is about accountability, transparency, public health and protecting our environment.
If local people can see a problem and spend nearly two years raising concerns, why were those concerns not acted upon sooner?
The community deserves answers.
