FRESH FORMAL COMPLAINT: CURRENT, ONGOING STATUS OF PADDEN BROOK PLANNING ENFORCEMENT AS AT 24TH SEPTEMBER 2026
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to raise a new, current complaint about the status of the Padden Brook planning enforcement matter as it stands today. This complaint concerns the present, ongoing position not a repeat of matters already raised in my Stage 1 complaint of 21 August 2026, which I recognise has already been through your complaints process and considered separately by the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (ref 25 017 921).
Since that complaint, and to the best of my knowledge, the underlying enforcement case at Padden Brook remains unresolved. This letter is a fresh complaint about that continuing state of affairs, as it exists today 24th September 2026, not about the historic period already considered.
What I am asking
- Please confirm the current status of the Padden Brook enforcement case as of the date of this letter 24th September 2026 specifically, whether any decision has now been reached, and if not, why not.
- Please confirm whether any site visit, inspection, or assessment has taken place since your last update to me, and if so, what it found.
- Please confirm whether the Council’s position on the land’s protected status (Local Wildlife Site, W1 woodland, and protected amenity land) has changed, and if any enforcement decision now reflects all three designations.
- Please confirm when the six-month review of the communications restriction referred to in Vicki Bates’s letter of 24 August 2026 is due, and confirm that this specific letter a fresh complaint about the current, ongoing status of an unresolved matter will be treated as a new complaint on its own merits, not folded into the existing restriction without individual consideration, consistent with the Council’s own April 2026 policy that restrictions must be proportionate and not applied as a blanket measure.
I would be grateful for a substantive response addressing each point above. I am raising this now, as a new complaint about the present position, specifically so that if it remains unresolved, any future complaint to the Ombudsman is timely and cannot be characterised as late.
Please confirm receipt and provide a complaint reference number.
Yours faithfully,
Sheila Oliver Editor, Romiley Gazette
