Has the new vape shop in Romiley in the old Olive Tree premises got planning permission (I couldn’t find any), and why is it allowed to open 24/7?

As I understand it it does need planning permission not having been in use as a shop since 2006, and planning permission can contain a condition restricting opening hours. We shall find out the facts if we ever get a response from Stockport Council. Good luck in getting the Enforcement Officers at Stockport to take any action – we have been trying to get the derelict butty van at Padden Brook removed from the protected land at Padden Brook for over 2 years now, and it has been joined now by a table and chairs dumped by the landowner. The derelict butty van has now transmogrified into a site office. Very, very iffy. Sadly the vape shop doesn’t need planning permission (under Planning class E) as the premises were previously a retail outlet. However, I think that the work undertaken by way of the installation of a new shop front and the awful massive signage does require listed building consent given that the shop lies within the Romiley Church Lane Conservation Area. As such the Council’s Planning Department will hopefully be taking enforcement action. It’s probably a matter for a shop owner to set their opening hours but given the location and what they sell such long opening hours are unacceptable but regretfully outside the Council’s control. Hopefully though they will get them for breaches of Conservation Area planning law given how bad it looks.
