A now-familiar sight in our community is that of local Lib Dem MP Lisa Smart, arm raised and finger pointing – this time at a patch of local wildlife. Residents, however, are asking whether this trademark gesture amounts to anything more than a photo opportunity.
“Pointing is all she ever does,” remarked one passer-by, frustrated at what they see as a lack of genuine action.
Concerns have been raised over the fate of Padden Brook, with locals saying they have received no response whatsoever from Ms. Smart regarding preservation efforts.
For many in Romiley, words and gestures are no longer enough – they want to see action to protect their green spaces before it’s too late.
