I am writing to request confirmation regarding the status and disposal history of the land known as Harcourt Street Recreation Ground, Romiley.
Please could you confirm:
- Whether the Council has ever proposed, approved, or completed the disposal, lease, or change of use of any part of the Harcourt Street Recreation Ground;
- If so, whether a public notice under Section 123(2A) of the Local Government Act 1972 (or any equivalent statutory requirement) was published before that disposal, including:
- the date(s) of publication,
- the newspaper(s) in which the notice appeared, and
- copies or transcripts of those notices if available;
- Any associated committee reports, executive decisions, or officer delegations authorising or recording such disposal or public consultation; and
- The current legal status of the land (e.g., held as public open space, subject to covenant, or reclassified for alternative use).
If the Council holds no record of any disposal or statutory notice for this land, please confirm that explicitly in writing.
I would be grateful if you could acknowledge receipt of this request and indicate whether it will be treated as a Freedom of Information or Environmental Information Regulations enquiry.
If part of the request is exempt, please release all non-exempt material and cite the legal exemption relied upon.
