From: Concerned Residents of Romiley

Fourteen months have passed since significant, ongoing destruction began at Padden Brook, a designated Local Wildlife Site protected under a Woodland Protection Order — yet still, there has been no visible effort to restore or replant the area, or even to stop t almost daily destruction.

Residents of Romiley remain deeply concerned that this once-thriving habitat, home to countless native species and an essential part of our local ecosystem, continues to lie barren, neglected and strewn with rubbish. The site was meant to be safeguarded, not stripped of its ecological and community value.

Despite numerous assurances and community appeals, we have seen no meaningful replanting or remediation work in fact, no action at all from the councillors. This prolonged inaction has left local people feeling not only disappointed but betrayed by the lack of accountability from those elected to represent and protect our environment.

We now call directly on Councillor Angela Clark, Councillor Rachel Bresnahan, and Councillor Mark Roberts to take personal responsibility for ensuring that replanting at Padden Brook begins immediately. The community expects a clear timeline, an ecological restoration plan, and transparent communication about how this vital Local Wildlife Site will be brought back to life.

Romiley residents are not asking for miracles — only for the promises of environmental stewardship to be honoured. The woodland destruction that occurred at Padden Brook was a tragedy. The ongoing failure to act is an avoidable disgrace.

It’s time to repair the damage.
It’s time to replant Padden Brook.
